Genesee County Literacy Coalition (GCLC) invites the community to our 5th Annual Fall Fundraiser at Luigi’s Restaurant on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 12–3 p.m. at 2132 Davison Rd., Flint.

For just $25 per ticket, guests can enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza, salad bar, and breadsticks while supporting literacy programs for both adults and youth in Flint and Genesee County. The event will also feature raffles, gift baskets, and a 50/50 drawing.

All proceeds go directly toward providing learners with essential services and technology to help them succeed. Since 1989, GCLC has worked alongside community partners to improve literacy levels across the county. Our nonprofit is supported entirely through fundraisers, community grants, and donations.

In addition to ongoing literacy initiatives, GCLC proudly awards the Danielle Brown Scholarship, a $1,000 annual award that supports a local student continuing their education after high school or GED completion. The coalition also launched the Virtual Learning Project in 2020 to help adult learners overcome barriers with access to technology and tools for academic and career success.

📣 Please help us by sharing this event with friends, family, and coworkers. Every ticket purchased and every raffle entered brings us one step closer to ensuring literacy resources remain available to all in our community.

🙏 Unable to attend? Donations can be made directly to GCLC through our PayPal.

🎟️ Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling (810) 243-3349. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Genesee County Literacy Coalition (GCLC) is proud to announce that Aaron Carr has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Danielle Brown Scholarship. A graduate of Carmen-Ainsworth High School, Aaron has demonstrated outstanding dedication to his academic goals, community involvement, and personal growth.

During high school, Aaron maintained a 3.3 GPA while balancing work and participation in programs such as the Alpha Esquires and Kettering University’s Kagle Youth Leadership Initiative. These experiences helped him develop leadership skills, discipline, and a commitment to giving back to his community.

Aaron is attending Fayetteville State University, majoring in Banking and Finance. His goal is to build a strong foundation in financial literacy and business strategy, with aspirations to work in the finance industry. He hopes to use his skills not only to achieve professional success and stability but also to create opportunities for others and give back to the community through education and outreach.

The Danielle Brown Scholarship will help Aaron cover educational expenses and access the resources he needs to succeed in college. “This scholarship is a recognition of my hard work and potential,” Aaron shared. “It motivates me to continue striving for excellence and to make the most of my college education so I can positively impact my community.”

GCLC also recognizes Destiny Hodges from Success Virtual High School as the 2025 Runner-Up. Destiny aspires to become a nurse and has shown remarkable dedication to her education. As runner-up, Destiny received a technology bundle to support her future studies and career goals.

We congratulate both Aaron Carr and Destiny Hodges for their achievements and wish them the very best as they pursue their future goals!

The Danielle Brown Scholarship is awarded annually by Genesee County Literacy Coalition to support outstanding students in furthering their education.
