GCLC would like to thank everyone who joined us for Session VI of our Promoting Literacy for Better Health OutcomesĀ series: Sleep Hygiene – Simple Habits for Better Rest.

We had an engaging conversation centered on the importance of sleep and how it impacts overall health. During the session, participants learned how sleep affects the brain, heart, immune system, and emotional well-being, and explored common sleep challenges and disorders that can interfere with restful sleep.

A key focus of the discussion was identifying small, realistic habitsĀ that can make a meaningful difference over time. Together, we explored practical strategies such as creating a consistent sleep routine, improving the sleep environment, managing stress before bedtime, and reducing screen use at night. Participants were encouraged to think about simple changes they could begin implementing right away to support better sleep.

For those who were unable to attend, or for anyone who would like to revisit the information, you can watch the full presentation here

As part of our ongoing Promoting Literacy for Better Health OutcomesĀ series, GCLC continues to offer workshops on a variety of important health topics. Previous sessions have included patient rights, diabetes and nutrition, emergency preparedness, mental health, and heart health.

GCLC remains committed to providing accessible, relevant literacy programming that empowers individuals to make informed decisions and improve their well-being.

Stay tuned for our May workshop topic, where we will continue exploring important connections between literacy and health.

Thank you again to everyone who participated—we look forward to seeing you at future events!

Genesee County Literacy Coalition would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported our recent Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser. Your participation, purchases, and

shares helped make this event a meaningful success.

Because of your support, we are able to continue strengthening literacy initiatives across Genesee County. Funds raised will help sustain our literacy programs and support key initiatives such as the Danielle Brown ScholarshipĀ and technology bundles for adult learners, helping expand access to reading resources and promote lifelong learning throughout our community.

Fundraisers like this play an important role in helping the Coalition continue its mission of advancing literacy as a foundation for personal growth, educational achievement, and community success.

We are grateful to everyone who purchased popcorn, shared the fundraiser with friends and family, or supported our efforts in any way.

Community members can continue supporting Genesee County Literacy Coalition by liking and following our Facebook pageĀ to stay updated on literacy initiatives, community programs, and upcoming events.

We also look forward to seeing everyone in October for our annual fall fundraiser, another opportunity to come together in support of literacy across Genesee County.

Thank you for helping us build a stronger, more literate community!
