Hands-On Emergency Preparedness Training for Seniors

Genesee County Literacy Coalition (GCLC) invites the community to attend Session VII of our Health Literacy Workshop series: CPR and Emergency First Aid Instruction for Seniors. This free Lunch and Learn event will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library (Flint Central Room A/B).

This interactive session will provide seniors and community members with hands-on CPR

instruction and emergency first aid training led by a certified instructor. Participants will learn essential life-saving skills, including how to respond during medical emergencies, recognize warning signs, assist someone who is choking, and provide basic first aid care until professional help arrives.

As part of GCLC’s Promoting Literacy for Better Health Outcomes community series, this workshop empowers individuals with knowledge and practical tools to respond confidently in emergency situations and make informed health and safety decisions. Attendees will receive educational materials and valuable takeaways to support emergency preparedness at home and in the community.

The program includes a free lunch, an interactive educational presentation, live demonstration, and opportunities for participants to practice CPR techniques in a supportive learning environment.
