Improving adult literacy takes a community — and dedicated volunteers make it possible.

ree

Genesee County Literacy Coalition (GCLC) is proud to share an opportunity from our member organization, Flint & Genesee Literacy Network (FGLN).

Through FGLN’s Volunteer Tutor Alliance (VTA), volunteers are connected with adults who are working to strengthen reading, English language, and workforce skills throughout Genesee County.

Volunteer tutors play a vital role in helping learners build confidence, improve literacy, and reach life-changing goals.

No teaching background? No problem! Training, tools, and ongoing support are provided every step of the way — making it simple to get started and truly rewarding to be part of someone’s learning journey.

Volunteers from all backgrounds are welcome to get involved and make a lasting difference.

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us for our 6th Annual Fall Fundraiser at Luigi’s Restaurant this past Sunday! The energy, generosity, and community spirit made this one of our most successful events yet.

From the creative themed gift baskets to the raffles, the day was filled with fun, connection, and purpose. It was inspiring to see both longtime supporters and new faces join in to support literacy and lifelong learning.

Thanks to your kindness — through ticket purchases, donations, and raffle entries — we raised vital funds that will help GCLC continue providing resources, scholarships, and technology to adult learners across Flint and Genesee County.

A very special thank you to Luigi’s Restaurant for hosting us once again, to our volunteers, and to everyone who helped behind the scenes. We’re also grateful to those who sponsored tickets, your generosity ensured that our students could take part in this event and continue to benefit from our programs year-round.

Every dollar raised goes directly toward advancing literacy, supporting education, and empowering adults in our community. Together, we’re making lifelong learning possible!

You can support GCLC year-round by Donating or by following us on Facebook.

Thank you for standing with GCLC and supporting literacy in Genesee County!
