Genesee County Literacy Coalition (GCLC) is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Danielle Brown Scholarship, an annual award created to honor the life and legacy of our former Chairperson, Danielle Brown.
Established in 2021 after her passing, this scholarship reflects Danielle’s unwavering commitment to literacy, education, and advocacy. She was a dedicated leader who worked tirelessly to uplift individuals and give a voice to those often unheard. GCLC remains committed to continuing her mission by supporting learners as they take meaningful steps toward their future.
Each year, one student will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship to support their continued education. In addition, other nominees will be recognized, and GCLC will work with community partners to help connect candidates to further opportunities and supports whenever possible.
We are seeking nominees who:
• Are 17 years of age or older
• Will complete a High School Diploma or GED during the 2025–2026 school year
• Plan to pursue post-secondary education, including college or certificate programs
We encourage educators, administrators, counselors, coordinators, and supervisors from local schools and learning centers to nominate students who demonstrate perseverance, dedication, and a commitment to improving their lives through education.
📌 How to Apply:
Nominations must include a completed application along with a Student Response Form filled out by the candidate.
📅 Application Deadline: June 1, 2026
