Improving adult literacy takes a community — and dedicated volunteers make it possible.

Genesee County Literacy Coalition (GCLC) is proud to share an opportunity from our member organization, Flint & Genesee Literacy Network (FGLN).
Through FGLN’s Volunteer Tutor Alliance (VTA), volunteers are connected with adults who are working to strengthen reading, English language, and workforce skills throughout Genesee County.
Volunteer tutors play a vital role in helping learners build confidence, improve literacy, and reach life-changing goals.
No teaching background? No problem! Training, tools, and ongoing support are provided every step of the way — making it simple to get started and truly rewarding to be part of someone’s learning journey.
Volunteers from all backgrounds are welcome to get involved and make a lasting difference.
